Local High School Student William T. Gholson earns job at the Alamo Landmark.

After successfully completing his junior year at Burbank High School in San Antonio, Texas, William T. Gholson earns a spot with the Alamo team. He will be responsible for guests as one of the guides of the Battlefield Tour, an activity that shows the true depths of the iconic battle. Guests are usually accompanied by Alamo History interpreters, who explain the details of the battle, with special emphasis on certain key facts that are not necessarily well-known among the audience.

The tour itself follows the original outline of the battle, taking the guests through every important part of the landmark. As the organizers of these tours state, many people only know Alamo by the pictures of the Spanish church, but in reality it is so much more than that, both from a physical, structural standpoint, and also from a historical perspective.

The tour during which William T. Gholson will accompany guests lasts about one hour on average, and really revisits every important physical and historical detail of the landmark. These places include the area where Colonel Travis died, as well as the accurate spot where David Crockett fought so heroically before succumbing to his wounds. The one-hour-long tour gives a very detailed history of the location in an extremely particularized fashion, which is always appreciated by the guests.

At the beginning of the tour, William T. Gholson will meet with the guests at the Alamo shrine. The group takes off from there, first to be shown the original areas of the whole mission, then later the area that is now called Alamo Plaza. Those who wish to learn even more about the battle and everything that went down in 1836 can complete their experience with an audio tour, using a hand-held device for their convenience.

This tour leads the guests through the two other buildings of the Alamo compound, and its goal is to provide an extremely detailed chronicle of the specific events that took place during that historically crucial period. William T. Gholson is proud to join the Alamo team, and he plans to become a valuable member of the staff.
