“Making communities safer by improving outcomes for youth”, this is what Department of Youth Services (DYS) aims at. It helps the youth in its care by making positive changes in their lives. It works with families, youth, and communities and uses a wide range of services to support the youth. Be it educational, medical or clinical, DYS provides all these services to the youth. It understands the positive attributes that young people need to make a more successful transition to adulthood.

Department of Youth Services always continues to grow and adapt, thus always remaining adaptable, motivated and responsive. It believes that the world of youth development is an exciting area and DYS ensures that it remains at the cutting edge of youth development. Besides, it is geared towards the promotion of ideals that are deemed most appropriate for the positive and full development of the young people. This department is always aimed at coherently linking the range of existing efforts that is complimented by a number of new measures to address gaps in the existing services.

DYS always ensures that the endeavors are better coordinated, better targeted, better understood and better used. Besides, it provides more access, more relevance, more opportunities and more hope to the youth. Being the former Program Director of Phaneuf Youth Center, Marion based Galen Stone was solely responsible for all the aspects of program operations for the Phaneuf Youth Center. He participated in a Brockton based 16-bed short-term intensive treatment program that was meant for 13-18 year old boys committed towards DYS.

Galen Stone from Marion also created short -term intensive treatment model for the state. He also supervised 35 member staff and all Department Directors including Clinical, Educational and Residential, Psychiatrist, Nurse, Bookkeeper and MSW interns.

Galen Stone holds an extensive expertise of nine years at Life Resources Inc. Earlier; he served as Director of Fundraising where he supervised all aspects of fundraising for the agency. It included annual and strategic planning, annual appeal, corporate giving and special gifts. He also assisted in producing the agency video and coordinated all the special events.
