The Tree of Peace is a unique social experiment undertaken by Whisper For Peace, a voluntary movement based in India. In this initiative, individuals contribute their peace messages by writing them on leaf shaped cards, which are then delicately hung upon its branches.

This symbolic Tree recently made its way to two picturesque beaches of Vasai-Virar in Maharashtra, India where it struck a deep chord with beach visitors, evoking wonder, amazement, and a surge of enthusiasm as they penned down their aspirations for a more peaceful world.

"At a time when global conflicts seem to dominate headlines, we wanted to counterbalance this disharmony through unique acts of peace,” remarked Julia Fernandes, Founder of Whisper for Peace. "For every act of violence that plagues our world, we believe there should be a corresponding act of peace," she added.

Drawing inspiration from the ancient traditions of the Haudenosaunee tribal nations, who planted the original Tree of Peace as a symbol of reconciliation and unity, the Tree of Peace aims to emulate its spirit in modern times.

“For every act of negativity in the world, through the Tree of Peace leaf message initiative we are creating an intent of positivity,” remarked Sharon Danthis, member of Whisper for Peace.

"We shall personally pen the messages we receive on the paper leaves and hang it on the Tree of Peace," added Fernandes. "With each leaf carrying the weight of peace, every individual is literally contributing towards cultivating peace in our world even if it is just one leaf at a time!"
