The Texas Renaissance Festival King and Queen are seeking the worthiest couple in the land upon which to bestow a free fairytale wedding ceremony to be held at the nation’s largest and most acclaimed Renaissance theme park, during its 2016 season, kicking off Oct. 8 through Nov. 27.

Couples wishing to marry for the first time or renew their vows must prove their worth in a two-part challenge of love, dedication and unity, as well as champion their cause in a Tournament of Love at the Renaissance Run on Saturday, May 21, 2016.

The 2016 Wedding Giveaway Challenge kicks off today and couples are invited to visit the Texas Renaissance Festival Weddings page [www.texrenfest.com/weddings] to download and complete the registration form.

A Wedding Fit for Royalty

The winners of the 2016 TRF Wedding Giveaway Challenge will receive, at no cost, a wedding package valued at $5,500 to include 32 Texas Renaissance Festival tickets for the wedding day, a 90-minute bridal dressing room, wedding music, a royal guard escort, a carriage procession with festival characters, herald trumpets, a sword arch, the minister, a professional picture CD of the ceremony, two premium parking passes, two champagne flutes & ice bucket with TRF logo, complimentary bottle of champagne, guest book & pen, set of hand carved wedding candles, four silk floral hair garlands, and a floral bouquet with matching boutonniere. The bride and groom can choose from the King’s Chapel, Rose Garden or enchanting Water Garden as their venue of choice for the ceremony.

Challenge 1 – The Declaration of Love

Couples must submit a photo along with a creative essay or video answering a series of questions to determine why they deserve a fairytale wedding. The essays will be sent directly to Texas Renaissance Festival Weddings, and videos can be uploaded to YouTube, Vimeo or shared via DropBox. The deadline for Challenge 1 entries is April 15, 2016, and the winners of the first round will be announced April 29th, 2016. The finalists will be notified via email and Facebook, and must be available for the second challenge on May 21st at the Renaissance Run.

Challenge 2 – The Tournament of Love

Three finalists will be chosen to participate in a series of physical challenges to be held during the 2016 Renaissance Run at the Texas Renaissance Festival on Saturday, May 21, 2016. This challenge will consist of a series of obstacle courses to be completed by each couple. Should one of the chosen couples be physically unable to participate in the challenge, they may choose a champion to represent them in the competition. Specific information on this challenge will be announced no later than April 15, 2016.
