My counselling is grounded in a client-cantered approach. Humanistic in nature, my counselling focuses primarily on the ways in which individuals perceive themselves consciously rather than on how I interpret their unconscious thoughts or ideas.

I empower individuals to overcome personal obstacles by holding them in unconditional positive regard and demonstrating belief in their capacity to piece together their own solutions to their struggles. I have an innate ability to guide clients in an empathetic manner, facilitating a judgement-free space for them to process their struggles and begin working towards recovery and healing.

My passion for guiding those struggling with addiction was born out of my own experiences as an addict. It was through having experienced first-hand the devestation that drug addiction ultimately causes that I turned my interests towards addiction counselling and psychology. I have now been clean for over five years and have turned my experience into a tool to help others.

I have experience working with all types of addictions and I offer individual addiction counselling to adolescents (aged 15+) and adults. When necessary I also engage with the family members of addicts in order to address the broader psycho-social aspects of addiction and any dysfunctional family dynamics (ie. co-depedency, enabling etc.).

I offer random or regular drug-testing as an add-on service to my addiction counselling in the Pietermaritzburg erea.
