For many of us guys there is always the “inner boy” within −craving to imaginatively assemble toys and plastic models, whether one is 6, 16, or 60 years of age. There is always that yearning to play with or create replica models of ships cars, planes, and so forth. It is just human nature, plain and simple!

To satisfy this ongoing market demand, from people of all ages, a Korean company, Academy, has been developing a strong global presence in the field of toy and mold production. The company has three production centers − in Seoul, Korea; Gelsenkirchen, Germany; and Rosario, Cavite, Philippines. Academy has developed and supplies over 500 products to more than 60 countries worldwide. Academy is in fact already the world’s fifth-largest producer of plastic model kits.

It produces amazing replica models of everything from battleships to fighter aircraft, helicopters, R/C cars and boats. Academy manufactures radio-controlled cars, battery- and solar-powered educational models, sailboat models, acrylic and enamel model paints, airsoft guns, and various modeling tools and supplies. The company has gained a strong reputation among hobbyists worldwide for producing models of outstanding quality and accurate scale detail.

Academy’s character toys and educational toys are particularly useful for parents wishing to develop the technical learning skills of their kids, even from an early age. The educational kits are specially developed for them to grasp and understand the actual structures and operating mechanisms of the realistic-looking toys. Academy produces predominantly aircraft model kits in the 1:72 and 1:48 scales. The oldest category in Academy's export line has been the "Military Miniatures" series of 1:35 scale figures and vehicles. The series has focused on World War II military subjects, such as a perfect replica of the famous German battleship the Graf Spee, though a growing minority of kits in this line come from later periods.

Academy also produces 1/14 scale radio controlled trucks using ABS body shells instead of the alloy and sheet metal that its competitors use.

The worldwide division/importer also released a semi-low loader trailer in this scale, under the brand name Carisma. Academy's radio controlled tanks have options such as sound, light and optional parts to depict different variants.

The Leopard A4 and Flakpanzer Gepard are no longer produced; updated versions of the others have some technical and cosmetic innovations over the original models. The latest models have full sound function, fire simulation (barrel moves when fired), and even a barrel stabilizer. Also there is a battle function unit for sale, so you can actually fight a tank battle with other similar equipped tanks from Academy.
