Chemotherapy and other cancer treatments are going to put extra stress on your already stressed out body. One of the most visible victims is your skin. Redness, dry patches, flaking, inflammation, and blisters are some of the symptoms. If you decide to start a skincare regiment before you begin chemo, and maintain it throughout your treatment, your skin will fare much better.

When looking for a serum, lotion, moisturizer, or other chemo cream, there are some factors to consider. Look for a line of products that are specifically developed to help people undergoing cancer treatments. Also, when these products contain vitamins, antioxidants, and other natural ingredients, you are nurturing your skin as well as moisturizing it. You want these products to help reduce moisture loss, which in turn will help reduce redness, flaking, dryness, and itching.

Using other products developed to help cancer patients will also help your skin be more healthy. Gentle body and face washes, soothing serums, and balms will let your chemo cream work to its full advantage. Drinking plenty of water and other fluids will help keep your body and your skin hydrated, as well.

Some other useful skin care tips are wearing gloves to do dishes and other household chores, taking quick, lukewarm showers, not long hot baths and patting yourself dry, not rubbing your skin. Doing these things will lessen skin irritation.

Any products, chemo creams or otherwise, that can help you feel better, prevent, or reduce the symptoms and side effects of cancer and cancer treatments, should be at the top of your list. You should research, buy, and start using them prior to your treatment sessions. Then you will have one less pain, or lessened pain, to deal with and overcome. It can’t be stressed enough that chemo skin care is an important consideration not to be forgotten.
