Spanish design is highly prized in France, and one of the objectives of this exhibition is to demonstrate the contributions that Spanish inventiveness has made to the fields of graphic art, industrial design and furniture. It also aims to let French audiences see the creativity of Spanish design, in terms of both designers and the companies that manufacture contemporary design products.

The exhibition will convey all this information in a 700 square metre display space, spread over two floors. The lower floor will show all the latest pieces and products created by internationally-known Spanish designers such as Patricia Urquiola and Jaime Hayón. Meanwhile, the first floor will show the most iconic works of Spanish culture, which have served as the inspiration for today's industrial and graphic design.

The City Council of Bordeaux selected this exhibition as one of the most important events in the city's programme for 2013, running a national media campaign to promote it. The exhibition is open to the public throughout the summer, which is when the greatest numbers of tourists visit the city.

The show is also important because France is the world's top buyer of Spanish furnishing and interior design products. Spain's furniture exports to France in 2012 brought in €366 million, with 27% of Spanish furniture exports going to this country. Meanwhile, Spanish lighting exports to France exceeded €75 million in 2012, with the French market accounting for 16% of Spain's total product sales from this sector.
