Vishal Lamba, a scientist in Florida, was born in Merrut, India. He completed his primary and secondary education at St. Josephs Academy before starting school at Garhwal University in Srinagar, India. He studied chemistry, zoology, and botany before earning his Bachelor of Science in 1990. He then decided to continue his education and enrolled at the University of Roorkee in Roorkee, India. He studied bioscience and earned a Master of Science in biotechnology in 1993. He used his education and his training to earn a spot in a doctorate program at the University of Tennessee. He moved to Memphis, and began studying pharmacogenomics. While he was working on his Doctor of Philosophy in the field of Pharmacogenomics (PhD), he worked at St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

After Vishal Lamba completed his PhD in 2008, he completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Minnesota’s Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Transplantation. In 2008, he began working as a research associate and an assistant professor at the University of Minnesota. Throughout his career, he has been involved in a number of research projects.

Vishal Lamba enjoys working on research and gathering data for a variety of topics. He specializes in pharmacogenomics and personalized medicine. His “primary research interest includes understanding the transcriptional and post- transcriptional mechanisms regulating gene expression levels of hepatic drug metabolizing enzymes (DMEs) and transporters,” and many of his research projects involve prescription drugs and genetics.

Dr. Lamba has applied for two grants for future research projects. The first project is titled “Genomic and Epigenomic Landscape of Cytochrome P450 Regulation,” and Dr. Lamba is the primary investigator on the project. The second is titled “Bayesian Neural Networks for Personalized Medicine and Biomarker Discovery,” and he is the co-investigator for the project. Dr. Lamba is an accomplished scientist who has worked for two different universities. Vishal Lamba has worked on a number of grant funded research projects as a primary investigator and as a co-investigator.
