Madrid, Spain, March 19, 2013 - The United States Ambassador to Spain, Alan D. Solomont, has said Spain could be the “trading partner that America needs”.

Speaking during the event “Cultura en red” (‘Online culture’), which was attended by over 200 cultural industry and technology professionals, Solomont said that cooperation between the economies of the United States and Spain is a very important factor in achieving economic growth and an expansion of cultural content on the Internet.

“A large part of our work over the past three years in Spain has been devoted to helping the country to overcome the crisis and enable its economy to recover, and this could make it the trade and investment partner that America needs”, he said.

The United States Ambassador added that “Spain is a leader in terms of online culture and content”. For this reason, he said, “creating a nexus between culture and technology that will benefit both will boost the Spanish industry through cooperation with the American industry”. He added that it would also “contribute to economic growth and help create jobs”.

Solomont also pointed out that, today, online culture “is not just about streaming and apps”, but also helps “people with ideas who want to reach a global audience”.
