AXA – a French Multinational Insurance firm had recently organized ‘AXA CR Week’ an event which takes place in every AXA entity in 64 countries around the world. As part of the CR Week in India, AXA employees in Pune participated in a cycling event, AXA Urban Ride #2 with a goal of creating awareness about importance of reducing pollution and promoting healthy living, water conservation etc. The 12 Km ride was a great success. The designated route of AXA Urban Ride was via Kalyani Nagar and Koregaon Park.
This year with the help of Cymour-company dedicated to Cyclists, Cycles and Cycling – AXA had organised a community cycleride, called the “AXA Urban Ride #2.
AXA has in fact been organising cycling experiences for its employees for the past 5 years. To increase awareness in the local community it launched its first Urban Ride in 2015. On the Urban Ride employees cycled and also spread messages of the importance of Environmental Awareness, of Going Green and also of the true Advantages of Cycling amongst the local communities.
Today’s excessive levels of pollution are causing a lot of damage to the environment. The effects of all types of pollution are far and wide, and a cycle is one of the simple solutions to all these problems.
Talking about AXA Urban Ride and CR Week, Sandeep Arora – CEO, AXA Business Services said, “Within AXA, our job is to protect and look after our customers, and it is only natural that we extend the same concern to others. Our values and mind-set drives us to move beyond our professional role and use our expertise and logistical resources to support wider social solidarity initiatives”
On this occasion Mr. Aniket Mahashabde – Proprietor, Cymour said, “Event’s like the AXA Urban Ride will have a huge impact on the way people think about cycling in general. The noble message these rides send out to the community helps to cater for a cleaner and a healthier future, and we at Cymour are always happy to organise such events.”

He further said, “The idea behind promoting such events is to make cycling a lifestyle for urban commuters which will help in creation of a cleaner environment and a healthier life”.
AXA had organized AXA Urban Ride #2, a community cycle ride event in Pune as part of its CR Week (Corporate Social Responsibility Week) in which close to 250 employees of the firm commuted on cycles with a view of creating awareness on important issues like water conservation, health, cleanliness etc.
AXA also conducted a cleaning & beautification drive with VNRA in Pune with participation of more than 100 volunteers.
Other activities organized as part of CR Week in Pune were as follows:
• Awareness sessions to help employees manage their personal finances and to be more informed about the benefits of a vegan lifestyle
• A blood donation drive
• Emission/Pollution checking for both employee and company vehicles
• Education of employees about maintaining a healthy heart
• Launched a wellness portal to help employees manage their ongoing health/lifestyle choices
