Monsoon in Uttarakhand has arrived in the month of June and will last till July. During monsoon the weather is very pleasant and people can enjoy and rejuvenate in the greenery that surrounds with temperature around 15-25 °C. Some famous destinations in Uttarakhand during monsoon are Landsdowne, Almora, Valley of Flowers, Ranikhet, Dayara Bugyal, Gorsun Bugyal, Tehri Lake.
Landsdowne is counted among the most tranquil and untainted hill stations of Uttarakhand and is a famous tourist attraction since colonial era in India. Almora is knows as Switzerland of India and has offers Panoramic Vistas of Himalayas. Valley of Flowers is a national park that is nestled in Western Himalaya Region. Many waterfalls enhance the beauty of this area and is listed in the World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Ranikhet means ‘meadows of the queens’, is a magnificent hill station which is famous for its picturesque beauty and serenity.
Dayara Bugyal is grassy upland secreted away in mountain laps where shepherds take their herds in summer days before the winter snow renders them fallow. Gorson Bugyal is located at an altitude of 3056 mts, 3kms from Auli. It is a large land of green pastures surrounded by coniferous trees and oak trees. Tehri Lake is Asia’s largest man made lake as the town got submerged in the waters of Bhagirathi and Bhilangana Rivers to create a large catchment area and this way the town of Old Tehri became The Tehri Lake. During the monsoon, Uttarakhand is a paradise for all the tourists inviting more and more people to visit and rejuvenate.
