• Does using your current brand of toothpaste irritate your mouth in any way?

• Do you regularly experience very sore points around the mouth after brushing?

• Do you notice gums reddening at all after brushing?

• Do you experience unusual or unpleasant tastes in your mouth after using your toothpaste?

If these are consistent patterns, there is a chance that your toothpaste actually is part of the problem. Some oral hygiene conditions come and go quite quickly; when a condition persists, it is either a problem or in the process of becoming a problem.

The symptoms above may relate to possible chemical irritations, with some potential indicators of infection, or both. Soreness and reddening, in fact, are sometimes signs of significant health issues. If you’re experiencing these symptoms, do not wait to see what happens – Call your dentist or your doctor.

At the strictly toothpaste level – You may well be advised to change your brand of toothpaste. Some types of toothpaste, notably the Brand X variety, may be cheap, but they can cause this kind of problem and are not very good toothpastes, anyway.
