Appreciating the importance of networking and the internet in today’s professional world, Trevor Codington creates a LinkedIn profile.

In today’s world, online social and professional networking has somewhat replaced many in-person interactions. This is beneficial in some ways but of course it also has its flaws, much like most things do. Ever the optimist, Trevor Codington chooses to see the benefits in online networking and does so through his use of LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube.

“I will be the first one to tell you technology is ruining our sense of people skills,” began Trevor Codington. “However, I will also tell you I believe it does a tremendous job of keeping people in touch when they would otherwise lose sight of one another. And ultimately this is better professionally speaking, because you never know when a former colleague can assist you in current matters.”

In regards to the exceedingly popular networking site Facebook, Trevor Codington believes this is best left to the younger generations for more social usage. Being a well-established lawyer, Trevor Codington likes to keep his reputation professional and even pristine, if you will. The internet can slur one’s image incorrectly and Trevor Codington does not want his name to get in the wrong hands.

LinkedIn is one of Trevor Codington’s favorite sites because it allows individuals to re-connect with former associates, kick-start or help your career thrive, and even gain knowledge in your field through other specialist members sharing their expertise. One day, Trevor Codington hopes to be one that advises others on the practice of law, as he believes this is one of the highest honors and proves one’s abilities as well as his/her devotion to justice.

There are important steps in creating a LinkedIn profile that should be followed if members are going to be as successful on the site as Trevor Codington has become. One major step is to add a photo of yourself because it has been calculated that your profile is seven times more likely to be viewed. Another thing to remember, according to Trevor Codington, is to not stress out over providing too much information. “As long as you make it clear what you’re in search of professionally, you will most likely come in contact with the right person,” advises Trevor Codington.
