The couple said their vows under an apricot tree in Cruz Duarte’s backyard, in the same spot where the groom used to play in a treehouse as a little boy.

The bride looked stunning in a dress that was purchased online and drastically and painstakingly altered by the groom’s mother and aunt, Melinda Brave. The groom wore a black tuxedo without a bowtie because he can’t stand to have anything touching his throat.

The ceremony was officiated by Dan Botabara of San Jose, the bride’s longtime pastor. The flower girl was Samantha Watterson of Yuba City, the bride's cousin. The Bible bearer and ring bearer was Jason Marsh of San Jose, the bride's nephew.

The couple honeymooned in Niagara Falls, where they got drenched by the spray from the falls, subsequently caught colds, and had a great time anyway. They live in Angwin.
