Purchasing the Best Laptop Without Overriding your Budget

Buying the right laptop, especially when you are working with a limited budget is a tough task. However, you can get the best laptops at reasonable prices when you buy them from online stores.

Not all people are good at sticking with their budgets but when it comes to purchasing the more expensive items like a laptop it is important to do so. This is because, when you know your budget, there are many ways in which you can stretch the value you get from your money, instead of splashing too much on too little. This is particularly true with laptops because there are so many different brands available in the market with so many different features, making it confounding to choose the right model. Therefore, you should always start with your budget range and see what you can get out of it, in terms of features.

There are low cost Netbooks costing less than $600, with smaller screens and processors with smaller capacities. These laptops have a small screen too, sometimes around 10 – 13 inches, not ideal for watching movies but good enough for your normal school or office related work. This is ideal for those who need their laptop for day to day work that doesn’t need heavy applications or great processor speeds. However, at some point you have to make a choice between single core and dual core processors and further down, between different versions of the dual core processor. The multi-tasking ability of the processor for example, will be high in expensive models and would be ideal for those who need a variety of applications or software to run simultaneously while they are working away.
The cost of a laptop can depend on varied number of features like the RAM capacity for example. The price difference between a 2GB RAM and an 8GB model is quite substantial. The same holds true between a 160GB HDD or hard disk drive and a 520GB HDD. Optical drives, DVD writers and advanced graphics cards could stretch the price further. So, while looking at laptops you have to sacrifice one feature that you really don’t need for another that you do need, especially when you want to get value for your money. For example, if you don’t have to store a lot of information, you can go for a lower HDD and instead take a model with higher RAM capacity for greater speed.

There are other interesting aspects as well. Those who travel a lot need laptops which are lightweight and easy to carry around. Rugged models that are not too delicate are preferable considering that there will be the odd shock every now and then. The kind of software that the manufacturer gives you with the system varies from security tools to latest OS versions, depending on the cost. Once again, you need to check what you can do without and what you can get instead. Battery life and screen size are two other significant aspects of a laptop that you cannot ignore. Hence hardware, software, portability and security have to be mixed and matched, so that you can purchase something that gives you great value. In other words, such models will let you do most of your work by pruning out features that you wouldn’t have great use for.
