We have reached a tipping point regarding climate change. This includes rising sea levels, floods in the coastal regions, intense heat waves, extreme weather change, and global warming. If we don't take any action now, it might be too late.Climate changes has the capacity to wipe off several species off the planet, including humans. Yes, you read it right. We are facing a serious problem. A problem that needs urgent resolution.

At times like this, power generation companies in India have stepped forward and started providing green solutions to produce energy. They do this by providing a model of green energy power plants, which run on process heat/process waste, solar, biomass and hybrids.

So, what are these solutions? Keep reading to know that.

Solar

It is the conversion of solar energy into electricity. It can be done directly or indirectly. It can be done directly using photovoltaic cells. It can be done indirectly using systems such as lenses or mirrors. In this system, a large area of sunlight is focused on a beam. It is one of the most efficient means of energy production. The Indian subcontinent has a good amount of exposure to the Sun. Unlike some European countries that do not see the Sun for months.

Biomass

In this process, renewable material is used to create energy. It can use human waste, animal waste and several other plants to produce energy. Biomass conversion can be done using several processes such as thermal conversion, chemical conversion, biochemical conversion and electrochemical conversion. Burning plant-derived Biomass releases CO2 which is a pollutant. So, one can argue how is it really eco-friendly? Well, CO2 is the gas that plants take in and give out Oxygen. Moreover, the EU and UN framework have accepted Biomass as a renewable energy source.

Waste heat recovery

This process uses the heat through waste gases generated in various industrial processes. This recovered heat is used for generation of steam, process heating and power generation.

These are the solutions power generation companies in India can use to create energy without harming the environment. Several prominent companies have taken the green turn, it is time for others to follow. Sir Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin Group, has already stepped forward to fight climate change. He advocates that climate change should be taken seriously and that government and private institutions should step forward to fight global warming.
