The Bulldog 100 list features the fastest-growing businesses owned or operated by UGA alumni and is measured by compounded annual growth over the three-year period of 2017-2019.

This is the third time Mark Spain Real Estate has been honored on the annual Bulldog 100. Some 429 nominations were submitted for the 2021 list.

Mark Spain Real Estate, owned and led by its namesake, Mark Spain, specializes in residential real estate. Spain is a 1993 graduate of the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. The Alpharetta-based firm has earned the No. 1 real estate team in the United States honor for closed transactions by The Wall Street Journal and Real Trends the last three years running. Mark Spain Real Estate is also a five-time recipient of the prestigious Inc. 5000 honor, spotlighting the fastest-growing private companies in America.

Earlier this month, Mark Spain was honored as a 2021 Real Estate Newsmaker. Compiled by
RISMedia, a recognized information provider for the residential real estate industry, the Newsmakers list include nearly 300 industry professionals and was showcased in the February issue of RISMedia's Real Estate magazine as well as online at RISMedia.com. For 2020, Mark Spain Real Estate sold just over $1.4 billion in residential real estate including 5,647 homes closed. This was a 34% increase in total closings and a 46.5% increase in annual sales volume over 2019.

The 2021 Bulldog 100 includes businesses from industries such as technology, real estate, health care, construction and nonprofits. Of the 100 businesses, 81 are located in Georgia. In total, two countries, nine U.S. states and the District of Columbia are represented on the latest Bulldog 100 list.

Applicants were measured by their business’ compounded annual growth rate during a three-year period. The Atlanta office of Warren Averett CPAs and Advisors, a Bulldog 100 partner since the program began in 2009, verified the information submitted by each company.
