Ensuring that every student is positioned to succeed in an educational environment, the instructional specialist works to encourage the academic growth and the university preparation. He is solely responsible for supervising the development, implementation, evaluation, and codification of the curriculum of the school. Apart from this, he also manages the special education and counseling services of the school.

While maintaining high expectations for the students and teachers, an instructional specialist participates in the development and the implementation of the curriculum. Besides, he assists the teachers in the development and implementation of effective classroom management strategies, behavioral intervention plans, and instructional planning. He designs and leads the professional learning that is relevant and hands-on.

Being a former instructional specialist at High School Consortium, Tawfik Adams collaborated with the school principals to regularly analyze the school wide data, plan the interventions and make the curricular adjustments. Apart from this, he provided hands-on training to a selected group of teachers and helped them master the essentials of effective instruction. He designed and implemented high quality professional development sessions.

Tawfik Adams has been serving as the social studies teacher at Charles County Board of Education since 2017. Regarding the subject he teaches, Tawfik believes that social studies enable the students to put the current events into context and understand the world around them. Being a social studies teacher, he inspires the students to think critically about their world. He helps them to understand how the government functions and how to research the facts.

As a teacher, Tawfik Adams adapts the lessons to suit a change in the class size, prepare students for the exams and supervise the student outside the classroom. He considers social studies as an integrated study of the social sciences and humanities to promote the civic competence. He emphasizes analyzing a wide range of current social, ethical, political, legal, educational and environmental issues. He believes that current events actively develop the ability of the students to monitor and interpret the pressing issues occurring worldwide.
