End of Life Doula Practitioners Certification Trainings Coming to New York City March 11th, 12th, &13th

The End of Life Doula movement has been one of the greatest movements in end of life care to happen in the last few years. The New York Times has written several articles regarding this new movement and the positive difference it can make in improving health care for both the dying patient and their loved ones.

End of life Doulas are also known in Australia as Soul Midwives, in Canada as Death Doulas, and in England as Death coaches. The programs and curriculum of the programs vary, yet the goals are the same- helping to support people to have the best end of life possible.

Suzanne B. O’Brien RN has created Doulagivers End of Life Doula Practitioners Certification based on her experience in end of life care as a registered nurse in Hospice care and cancer care for over a decade. “ Working with this special group of people it was heartbreaking to see the gaps in care that made their situation 100x harder” Said O’Brien.

It was this first hand experience along with her doing a volunteer trip working with hospice patients in Zimbabwe, Africa that inspired her to create Doulagivers End of Life Doulas.|

“Hospice is an incredible organization, but due to the current challenging medical system there is just not enough bedside hours supplied by the medical system for dying patients. We needed to educate and develop an adjunct area of non-medical health care to fill the gap and work hand in hand with hospices and patients” Said O’Brien.

End of Life Doula Practitioners are trained in all 3 phases of end of life care, the top ten end of life disease processes, end of life medications and everything needed to build a practice. End of Life Doulas are being used in private homes, hospices, hospitals, assisted living facilities and nursing homes.

It is a calling and an incredible practice to add to an already exciting profession in healthcare or to be an independent End of Life Doula Certified Practitioner.

There will be two Doulagivers End of Life Doula Practitioner Certifications given in New York City @ The Tree House on March11th, 12th &13th and May 20th, 21st&22nd.
