What is Sunless Tanning?

Sunless tanning refers to the application of chemicals of various sorts to the skin to simulate the way it looks when it has been tanned. Many people use these artificial tanning systems because their skin does not tan easily in the sun. In addition, exposure to the sun for periods long enough to cause natural tanning can also cause wrinkles, skin cancer, premature aging of the skin and other problems. The first thing to do before applying tanning lotion to your face is to tie up your hair so that it will be out of the way. You should use gloves to prevent your hands from getting too tanned, but whether or not you do so is your preference. You can always wash the lotion off with soap and water afterwards.

Start off with a small amount of the lotion. It is best to work in small areas at a time to ensure an even color. You have a good few seconds to rub the lotion into your skin before feel that it is fully absorbed. Blend it well to prevent any streaking. It is also best to apply tanning lotion at night, preferably right after a shower with no clothes on. To prevent the lotion from rubbing off onto your clothing, make sure your skin is completely dry and that the lotion is fully absorbed. The latter should not be much of a problem because the lotion absorbs pretty quickly.

Within ten minutes after the lotion is applied, the skin will have gradually gotten darker and will continue to intensify, and you will get your actual color in three hours. The process of self-tanning lotion is really simple and easy; it is just like applying regular moisturizing lotion to your body.
