Are you pregnant and trying to figure out if you are actually having an emergency? Whether it is your first pregnancy or your tenth, you can have moments where you feel out of your element and are unsure about what course of action you should take. Thankfully, there are three main tips given out by the medical professional community that are geared toward helping women understand what to do when pregnant and in a possible emergency situation.

First of all, if there has been any kind of accident, you should immediately go to the hospital to be examined. For example, a building suddenly collapses nearby but the mother appears uninjured. Despite the fact that she may not have any cuts or bruises, there can be inhalation of mold or fine particles from the building collapsing. Obviously, a car crash can produce similar unseen effects on the mother that may be harming the unborn child.

The second most commonly given advice to pregnant women is to seek a medical professional if they feel any discomfort. This can sound vague to the expecting mother, but it is a key for figuring out what to do when pregnant and feeling strange sensations or pain. Although many women will go to the doctor and find out that they have gas, the doctors insist that women should not overlook this kind of abdominal distress. In some cases, this is a sign that labor is occurring too early or an issue that can be corrected by a doctor if medical attention is sought out early enough.

Finally, a problem that could be serious with pregnant women is experiencing abnormal vaginal discharge. In particular, bloody or excessive fluids and/or ones that have a bad smell are a sign that a doctor’s attention is required. Otherwise, keep in mind that it is better safe than sorry when a pregnancy is involved. For this reason, be sure to seek medical treatment immediately if you have any doubts.
