World-renowned Irish painter Stanley Pettigrew launched his own website where his online exhibitions will be showcased to a global audience. The purpose of the website is not just to showcase his works, but also to enable art collectors throughout the world to have access to his art.

Pettigrew was born in Chile but while still young returned with his parents to their home in Sligo, Ireland. While at school, he had an interest in carpentry and met a painter named Jim Heuston who later on developed Pettigrew’s landscape painting interest. Just like landscape painter Paul Henry, he had a fascination with the formations of clouds and reflective water of the seascape of Sligo. Quickly, the sky and seascapes became his painting subjects.

Pettigrew enrolled at Dublin’s Trinity College in 1944 to study history. Later on, he studied divinity. After university he became a curate in Newscastle, which gave him the opportunity to paint with Tom Carr. In 1954 he married Vera Brownell, who wrote several popular children’s stories. They settled in Wicklow in 1957 and has exhibited regularly in the Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin as well as the Wicklow Painters Gallery.
