Twickenham RFC is among those areas that could trace its origins all of the way back into the start of rugby. The clubs legacy goes back up to 1867 when the members of Wellesley House were enjoying rugby soccer against their opponents, Richmond. Here in this report we will look briefly at the background behind Twickenham rugby and how it has come to be the large prestigious club we all know now.

Reports in the media started to emerge approximately Twickenham rugby sides, also called Twickenham 'Proper' and Twickenham 'Seconds' and also the 'Lightweights' that were all playing to rugby rules. Tales of those matches continued to seem within the media before 1884, in which they abruptly ceased. The Twickenham rugby tradition was to be subsequently performed by the Young Man's Friendly Society at the close of the decade. The group called Twickenham FC played at least two matches in 1889 under this new name.

The documents for rugby afterward are patchy until 1893 when a meeting for local footballers was held at a local bar nearby Twickenham Green. The purpose of the meeting was supposed to re-form the Twickenham soccer team, clarifying which principles must be followed, institution or rugby. The vote was that football soccer rules must be followed closely onto the pitch. The choice to then use black bracelets with a white TFC was also then consented. A photograph of the very team still exists now and can be Twickenham's earliest artefact of this rugby club. The following year the team colors were changed to black and red, which they stay today.

In the beginning of this century that the group was good enough to perform the majority of the senior clubs and so were supplying players to the Middlesex team. Initially they all played on Twickenham Green prior to the glorious arena we understand now. Watching Twickenham rugby is an adventure which each and every rugby fan should attempt at a certain time in their life. Twickenham hosts a variety of hospitality packages and arena tours are offered for the ones that are looking to discover that little bit more about this historical club.
