Even Behind a Mask Your Smile Releases Endorphins

Smiles are contagious. Coronavirus is contageous. Ah, the irony. Masks that keep one safer from Coronavirus hide smiles. Sigh.

Laughing....I have almost stopped laughing, almost. I had the thought "People need to smile more." Which was followed by "Oh, we're all wearing masks." This conversation with myself came about because I was reminded of a kind of quiet game I would play while walking along the streets in New York City. I would look at a person , and smile, or be already smiling for perhaps no reason at all, and smiling, look at a person. Almost everyone smiled back. Maybe they were just startled into it. This started without a concious plan. I would be walking along grinning, like an idiot, looking around and see someone. More often that not, their face would light up in a smile, too.

Smiles are contagious. Coronavirus is contageous. Ah, the irony. Masks that keep one safer from Coronavirus hide smiles. Sigh.

Smiles are healthy. Smiling releases endorphins. These, in turn, boost the immune system. (What would it take to change the entire planetary culture...?) Imagine smiling as a health choice: endorphins released for cheerful feelings; seretonon released for stress relief, according to some easily accessible research. Thank you to internet search engines! ( I am not a doctor and do not play one on TV...)
Smile mysteriously behing your mask, and look into the eyes of those you happen to meet. Right now, maybe more than ever, it is important to recognize our mutual humanity. I bet they will smile too.

Right now it is important to keep one another safe. We can control the spread of this tricky little virus by wearing masks, and even gloves, while we are out and about. When we get home, we should wash our hands and change our clothes. Leave as much of anything that might have collected any unfriendly particles, alive or not, away from where we live. Basic hygiene has been essential to health
since we started living in communities. The Way To Happiness states,"People who do not batheor wash their hands regularly, can carry germs. They put you at risk.", L. Ron Hubbard. www.thewaytohappiness.org @waytohappinesstampa
