BAI president Sarma extends Gopichand as National Coach till 2022

Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will be subsisting to be the president of the Badminton Association of India for next term of four years after winning the governing body’s election during the annual general body meeting on Tuesday.

After re-appointing as the president of BAI, Sarma has elected a new committee under his presidentship and announced that Pullela Gopichand’s post as chief national coach of badminton is extended to next four years and Sanjay Mishra will continue as the junior national coach till 2022.


Gopichand has been contributing at his best as national coach and shaping the badminton to scale heights since 2006.


“Badminton has entered the vital phase, today, and we fancy to help our shuttlers in all the possible ways, besides helping state associations in setting up the academies. We will now foregather an executive committee meeting and come up with a vision document for next four years,” explained Sarma.
