Frequent snoring, according to one study, can affect a child’s learning abilities. Orthodenco Orthodontic Lab manufactures a non-invasive, oral appliance that orthodontists can use to treat snoring.

[North Lauderdale, 12/14/2017] — Snoring is a problem common to all ages and both genders. When it comes to children, however, frequent snoring can affect their performance in school. One study found that kids who frequently snore during the deeper stages of sleep are at a higher risk of deteriorating their learning abilities and concentration level.

Gunnhildur Gudnadottir and her colleagues at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden analyzed the occurrence of sleep apnea and snoring in 1,300 Swedish kids. They discovered that about five percent of the children snored multiple times a week.

The one finding, however, that surprised the research team was that the parents of these snoring kids were seemingly unaware of the possible health consequences related to persistent snoring. The study further revealed that only about a third of the parents whose children had a notable snoring condition sought medical assistance for their kids. This indicated low awareness about the dangers of breathing disturbances during sleep.

Treating Snoring Problems with EMA

When it comes to treating snoring as well as sleep apnea, many healthcare professionals rely on Elastic Mandibular Advancement (EMA), a non-invasive, adjustable, and patient-friendly oral appliance. The goal of EMA is to allow for more airflow during sleep by advancing the mandible and opening the bite.

Orthodontists who need EMA to treat their patients can turn to Orthodenco Orthodontic Lab. The company has highly experienced technicians who produce and efficiently deliver quality-assured products. Moreover, it has the staff capability to attend to the EMA orders of its clients personally.
