Surface Preparation

Sabre Jetting Services are now able to offer surface preparation using Ultra High Pressure Water Jetting. Their UHP unit is able to operate at 2800 BAR using 20lt / min and is excellent for preparing concrete surfaces for mesh and overlay systems or for creating a key for bonding to new concrete. This new technology allows them to prepare more surface area per shift than ever before meaning shorter programme periods and reduced costs for clients.

The UHP unit is currently in use on a project in Guernsey, preparing concrete surfaces to the underside of a jetty. They started the project using a 1500 BAR unit and the production and finish provided were both of an acceptable level. However, since the UHP unit has been introduced the production has doubled and the finish provided has been preferred by the client.

Hydro-demolition

Although Sabre Jetting’s 1500 BAR units remain the most suitable option for the vast majority of hydro-demolition projects, the UHP machine can also be utilised for this purpose. The UHP unit uses half the amount of water of the 1500 BAR units which can be advantageous where water is scarce and the lower flow means that the unit has a low reaction force making it excellent for jobs with limited access or structural constraints. The UHP unit will also be invaluable for projects where the surrounding area is particularly sensitive as the concrete will be removed in a less aggressive fashion and therefore be easier to contain.
