The awesome trio of the best live performing band in India has launched a new mashup single. This time it combines two masterpieces- the signature piece of John Denver, ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’ released in 1971 and a Bollywood favourite- ‘Bawara Mann’. The mashup was a tribute to the iconic song ‘Country Roads’ that was certified Platinum on 10th April 2017 by RIAA.
The selection of songs for mashup is indeed praiseworthy. John Denver’s voice has made us fell in love with West Virginia since the song’s release. And from this point of view, nothing could have upheld the mood and harmony other than this soothing romantic track- ‘Bawara Mann’, which literally translates into ‘crazy heart’. Surely, this mashup takes us through an emotional rollercoaster ride and makes us crazy enough to sway to its rhythms.
Once again the versatility of Dhwani is evident. One would not miss the magic created by the mix of nostalgia of ‘Country Roads’ and contemporary favour of ‘Bawara Mann’. The later is a soft-romantic piece from the Bollywood movie ‘Jolly LLB 2’ released in 2017, composed by Chirantan Bhatt and sung by Jubin Nautiyal and Neeti Mohan, conveying a vibe that is full of love and longing. In the mashup, all three of them-Sarita, Navin and Srriram hit the perfect notes with the right amount of sweetness and sensuousness.
The most interesting aspect of the mashup is the fact that, unlike most multi-lingual mashups, this one is not segmented. Normally, mashup singers split a mashup performance into two clear segments, where they perform the first half in one language and the other one in a different language. Often a bridge is planned to make the transition smooth. But Dhwani came out of the conventional way and choose to perform in Hindi and English alternatively. That is, while the first two stanzas were lyrics of ‘Bawara Mann’, a smooth transition to lyrics of ‘Country Roads’ followed. Then again there was ‘Bawara Mann’, and a closing stanza of ‘Country Roads’. No doubt, the job was quite challenging.
The mashup is quite a spectacular one as well. The entire video is shot in monochrome. The soothing lighting scheme and suitable background scores almost take us to a different world where feel completely enchanted by the power of music. This magic made the mashup one of the most popular ones sung during live performances of Dhwani. Since its launch, the mashup was performed as the opening number in numerous live performance shows by Dhwani and the response has been overwhelming. According to a majority of Dhwani fans, this mashup is trio’s best performance ever, bringing smiles to faces of thousands across the world.
Be it the corporate shows, sangeet, wedding receptions, anniversaries, birthday parties or any other occasion, the ‘Bawara Mann – Country Road’ mashup is simply in vogue.
