Hanuwantiya, Madhya Pradesh September, 2017: The 80 days long water festival will take place from October 15th, 2017 to January 2nd, 2018, and promise many exciting water, land and air adventure activities along with some amazing cultural evenings.
Jal Mahotsav was started in 2015 under the vision of the honorable Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in order to promote adventure tourism in the otherwise landlocked state of Madhya Pradesh. The challenge was taken over by Madhya Pradesh Tourism as it overhauled the unexplored Hanuwantiya Island, situated beside the waters of Indira Sagar dam, and transformed it into a small city in itself. Aptly called the tent city, it has over 125 tents, built to give a comfortable yet adventurous stay to the visitors.
The activities that are being hosted to entertain people include snorkeling, cruise, hot air balloon, paragliding, parasailing, jet ski, rock climbing to name a few. The main attraction that this year’s edition will see is the scuba diving among others. The festival will also showcase the vibrant culture of Madhya Pradesh in the form of musical evenings, food delights and arts and crafts.
