The initiative of electronic toll collection, imbibed with the FASTag technology, created a milestone in the entire process of toll tax collection. It made the process a lot more efficient, streamlined and transparent.

The National Highways Authority of India, with its dedicated team, has been working year-round for the development of roadways in India. Their initiatives and latest projects have always centred around the highway operations and management and to avoid any kind of dispute encircling the same. Propelling the notion of Digital India a step further, NHAI launched the online portal for Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) which is expected to ensure close monitoring of the national and international arbitral disputes.
ODR is expected to pave way for new job opportunities for the Indian Youth from the software industry background. This is expected to not just streamline the process of managing the online disputes but also ensure transparency in the process. If statistics are anything to go by, more than 3 crore cases are pending around the various courts in the country, the important thing in it is the fact that 46% of these cases are circled around the government bodies and the various sectors in it.
The Online Dispute Resolution portal, that was inaugurated by Mr Satyapal Singh, Minister of State Human Resource Development, will not just resolve the associated disputes that have been filed in the various courts in India but also revive the disintegrating construction industry and boost the GDP growth of the country as a whole. This will not just tend to the disputes but generate an increased amount of employment in the sector of Software technology for the Indian youths as well.
These new technology-driven initiatives are what NHAI is currently focusing on. The improvement of the infrastructure of the national highways around India has been of pivotal concern of the said department. The initiative of electronic toll collection, imbibed with the FASTag technology, created a milestone in the entire process of toll tax collection. It made the process a lot more efficient, streamlined and transparent.
The integration of FASTag to the vehicles ensures that the process of tax collection is a lot smoother and keeps traffic congestion at bay. NHAI has finalised on amalgamating the functions of FASTag with GST to impact the overall economic growth of the country. It is also set to reduce the logistic charges drastically which, in turn, will impact the overall GDP rate of the country and increase the same by 2%. All in all, these two factors of ODR and FASTag with GST will simultaneously improve the process of toll tax collection, all the while ensuring the betterment of the overall GDP growth of the country.
