The RUH Youth Foundation happens to be a 501©(3) nonprofit organization, which happens to be a free running or independent organization of Rice University and the University of Houston, which is specifically coached and looked after by student athletes and alumni of both the previously mentioned universities. Their main aim and objective happens to help and promote hard work and inspire learning in a safe, learning and fun environment for teenagers mainly like the boys and girls of ages 8 to 16 years old. Students play different games like basketball, hoopla 3 on 3, hoop it up and more. This organization plays in several areas like in an around Texas, including cities like Houston, Galveston, Austin, Dallas, and San Antonio.

It’s not an easy go admission organization. There are several try outs in order to clear and make it to the team. The try outs normally take place in mid or mid late February. The season normally continues for six months which usually ends in the month of august. The season continues till late august and ends with a celebrated award ceremony. Teams are formed on the basis of age groups, students apply for their specific age groups and thus after the selection process the teams are formed. There are no co ed teams, i.e, it’s either an all boys group or is an all girls group. There is a specific team roster according to which the teams have to abide by. The team roster consists of up to 15 players: five starters, seven backups, and three reserve players,. For the game of five on five there happens to be a twelve player travel roster, and in the case of three on three there is a four player travel roster, which only happens with the second four player travel roster happening specifically at the coach’s discretion. The reserve players have their set of responsibilities as well. The reserve players may be of developmental talent or they can be talented players who are moving up the travel roster or competing roster by challenging a starting player or backup. Every athlete is expected to put their all in the sessions. They are put through vigorous training sessions and are made to practice their way to perfection. The fee structure is never the same and continuous and may vary from season to season. The fees are considered to be non refundable and there will be no exceptions to this. Students need to drop donation for trying in the try outs and have to contact the head coach whose name is Coach Sean Ramey.

For 2018 the girls try out is completed and the list is already up on the website. The form for 2019 try outs is already up which shows that the website is up to date. There are several links for award ceremonies and national play offs and sponsors as well. There is a huge and described area for every type of query as well. The website is well maintained and has a detailed background story.
