Founded in December 2012 by 3 entrepreneurs who previously helped create Europe's largest online nutrition company, THE PROTEIN WORKS™ has quickly grown to become recognised as one of the market leaders in the world of sports nutrition. What's even more impressive is this has all been achieved in only 12 months by the Cheshire based nutrition brand and has been powered by a rapidly growing workforce based in Runcorn with even more jobs to be created in 2014.

Talking about their success Co-Founder Mark Coxhead said "when we started we had a single vision, to bring a new level of innovation, quality and service to the sports nutrition market, which we all felt had been previously lacking. We wanted to offer customers more. In a sector largely based on hype and inflated claims, we wanted to offer certified, exceptional quality backed up with the very best support and service, bar none. Unlike many other companies within sports nutrition, THE PROTEIN WORKS™ manufacture products in house. This is partly the reason why they are able to bring so many unique products to the market so quickly and the main reason they have been dubbed Europe's most innovative sports nutrition brand.

Talking about the workforce that powers such a huge operation, Co-Founder Karl Jacobie said “when we started last year there were just four of us working twenty four seven to get the business off the ground. Now due to the fantastic support from our customers, we employ more than 20 people from the local area and hope to double this number over the next 12 months."

When asked about the importance of being unique, Co-Founder Nick Smith said "it was always our intention to be different, from our ground breaking partnership with Everton Football Club, where we actually designed bespoke post training and post-match nutrition for the players, to the fact that we were the first online sports nutrition brand in the UK to only offer all natural flavours, and ground breaking new products such as Protein Porridge, Protein Pancakes and SOLO™ shakes.”

Looking ahead to 2014 it seems there are no signs of them slowing down as Nick adds “2014 will be all about continued expansion for the company, with new products, new services, new markets and more staff all on the horizon. Our New Product Development department are burning the midnight oil creating a pipeline of new innovative products, whilst Operations are investing in new UK and International services that will benefit our customers.”
