Guide To Kojic Acid Dipalmitate Cosmetic Compound

Kojic acid is a rare whitening agent that can inhibit multiple enzymes at the same time. However, kojic acid is instability on light, heat and metal ion. It is not easily absorbed by the skin, so kojic acid derivatives became popular.

Kojic acid derivatives not only have the same whitening mechanism as kojic acid, but also have stronger performance than kojic acid.

Kojic acid dipalmitate (KAD), the diesterified derivative of kojic acid, is currently the most popular kojic acid whitening agent.

Studies have found that if KAD is compounded with glucosamine derivatives, its whitening effect will increase exponentially.

But when kojic acid dipalmitate is added to the formulation, crystal precipitation is easy to form.

In order to solve this problem, it is recommended to add isopropyl palmitate or isopropyl myristate to the oil phase containing kojic acid dipalmitate.

Then heat the oil phase to 80°C and keep it for 5 minutes until KAD is completely dissolved.

Finally, add the oil phase to the water phase and emulsified for about 10 minutes.

Generally, the pH value of the final product obtained is around 5.0-8.0.

The recommended addition amount of kojic acid dipalmitate in cosmetics is 1-5%; the addition amount in whitening products is 3-5%.
