May 12, 2015: Two earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 & 6.9, with only a gap of 30mins shook Nepal, yet again. A few weeks after the first devastating earthquake of the year, Nepal experienced two more huge quakes today around 12:30 pm and 1:00 pm respectively. While the epicenter of first quake was observed in east of Kathmandu, the second was observed in Kodari in Nepal.

Tuesday afternoon turned hostile in Nepal when the nation experienced yet another wrath of nature in the form of shocking earthquakes. This time it was not just one but two huge quakes that took place at the difference of only 30mins.

Nepal along with its neighboring countries including entire Northern and Eastern India felt the tremors. These twin earthquakes were potentially damaging, which along with Nepal rocked Delhi, West Bengal, Bihar and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Where the survivors of previous earthquake that occurred on 25th of April were still struggling for their life, experiencing two more quakes that were potentially dangerous came across as a double whammy for this impoverished nation of Indian subcontinent.

People in Kathmandu rushed outdoors. Some building collapsed in Chautara in Nepal and many people were injured. Consequently, Kathmandu airport has been shut down. Even in India, people rushed out of their offices, homes, and shopping malls in cities like Delhi, Patna and Gurgaon. Delhi’s Metro service too was halted for a few minutes.

Moreover, considering frequent occurrences of earthquakes in Nepal and Himalayan region, mountaineers seeking to scale Mount Everest (world’s tallest peak) have called off this year’s Everest season. Lives of many people living in Indian Subcontinent have been impacted by these continuous episodes of earthquakes. Earthquake is a natural phenomenon, which is hard to prevent. Nevertheless, we can minimize its impact by taking proper safety measures at the time of quake and helping the ones in need. For more updates on earthquake visit: http://www.skymetweather.com/
