Australian nurse Rich Williams wants to make history by publishing the first nursing magazine on Apple’s Newsstand. Rich is excited about the support he is receiving as the word spreads about this new international electronic nursing magazine called “Nurses fyi”. Rich believes he has the necessary know how to publish the monthly editions of the nursing magazine that will be available for download to your iPad or iPad mini.

To help bring his dream of publishing a nursing magazine into reality, Rich has launched a Crowd Funding campaign to raise the $2,500 he needs to produce and publish the first four editions of the magazine. Rich believes his unique concept for an international digital nurses magazine will provide in its nursing articles useful and interesting information for nurses everywhere, as he’s identified there are many common interests, issues and challenges that nurses the world over have in common.

For the Nurses fyi magazine’s content and points of interest Rich will be drawing on his 25 years of full time nursing experience as a registered nurse in a variety of nursing areas. Rich will also be inviting nurses to contribute articles, or drop him an email outlining what topics they would like to see inside the magazine or to suggest nurses in interesting jobs whom Rich could interview.

Each monthly edition will have nursing articles for nurses, written by nurses. The magazines articles can contain a variety of formats to engage the reader including; written text with pictures, audio files of interviews, video files from Youtube, and include an invitation to join upcoming webinars that Rich plans to host with international nursing guests.

As Apple’s Newsstand is available worldwide, the Nurses fyi magazine will have its nursing articles available in: English, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, German, Chinese, Russian and Japanese. The first edition of the magazine due out in the early months of 2013 (once the funding target has been reached) will be free and the subsequent issues will be $3.99 each.

Crowd Funding is a relatively new system of raising funds for projects from donations from its supporters in return for receiving perks. Nowadays there are a variety of Crowd Funding companies to choose from that can promote your project from their website for a fee. Rich is using Indiegogo as his Crowd Funding platform to help him raise the funds he needs to get Nurses fyi magazine off the ground.

Rich says you can also become a part of nursing history by having your name published in the nursing magazine as a contributor of the Crowd Funding campaign by making a contribution at www.indiegogo.com/nursesfyi.
