Desuperheater Water Heater

A desuperheater is a device that lowers the temperature level of superheated refrigerant gas so that it can be effectively used for heating as well as for other industrial use. When ammonia refrigerant is used for heating the refrigerator or other heat transfer and industrial process purposes, it is most efficient when the gas is at saturation temperature.
This temperature reduction or attemperation is performed by the desuperheater. A desuperheater is a device that injects a sufficient amount of water with the flow of refrigerant.
Desuperheater Function
The primary purpose of a desuperheater water heater is to provide effective transfer of heat between ammonia refrigerant and water. A highly effective desuperheater water heater application and design ensures that costly problems to be avoided, including reduced process efficiency, long startup and shutdown times, and general wear of downstream piping and equipment.

Why Maniks Desuperheater Water Heater?
Maniks "Desuperheater Water Heater" is a unique global heat exchanger that produces hot water/ fluid to the highest temperature of 80℃. The media (water / fluid) can be heated free of cost by recovering the superheat/excess heat of the refrigerant Ammonia or Freon gas which is otherwise wasted to the environment through air/ water cooled condensers. The heat is hence recovered with almost at zero operating cost.
We have two Desuperheaters :
• Freon Desuperheater - SERIES HEF 33- XXX- 22
• Ammonia Desuperheater - SERIES HEA 77- XXX- 717
DESUPERHEATER FUNDAMENTAL:

Compressor Type Discharge Temperature
Screw (Indirect cooled) 70 to 80℃
Screw (Injection cooled) 50 to 60℃
Reciprocating 85 to 110℃
Boosters (Rotary & Reciprocating) 75 to 85℃
In a usual Air Conditioning & Refrigeration system, the refrigerant gas temperature raises up to 80℃ - 120℃ after compression. The refrigerant gas is further put into the air/ water cooled condenser (to condense near about 40℃).
While the condensing of refrigerant gas in the condenser, the total heat contained in this is in superheated form i.e. high Temperature/high pressure gas gets wasted to the atmosphere.
This superheat of the refrigerant gas which is a part of the total heat content of the ammonia gas, has a substantial heat potential provided the same is reclaimed efficiently and is optimized for energy saving
Maniks Desuperheater Water Heater is ultimate equipment for an AC & R plant, to remove superheat of the refrigerant gas.

DESUPERHEATER DESIGN:

Double Walled “Tube in Tube", consisting vented, counter flow heat exchanger. Vent tube haves separations on inner and outer surfaces so as to avoid cross contamination of refrigerant gas & water/ fluid. Each tube has tube inside it that allows the working media (water/ fluid) to travel in an opposite direction.

DESUPERHEATER INSTALLATION :

The Desuperheater Water Heater is normally installed before the condenser section and the oil separator. The refrigerant gas travels through the number of tubes in the Desuperheater water heater before entering the condenser. Typically the Desuperheater Water heater is manufactured considering the hot water requirement for the industrial and daily water boiling processes. When the needs of hot water & refrigeration processes are not in coordination, a "Recirculation" type system is provided, wherein hot water is generated, stored & maintained in a different insulated tank. This boiled water afterwards can be utilised as and when required.
The Desuperheater water heater can be easily retrofitted on reciprocating, scroll or screw type chillers.

Applications of Maniks Desuperheater Water Heater:
 The Desuperheater can be found in different types of applications, including:

Conclusion:
Desuperheaters are important components used in the management of superheated gas from power generation sources to industrial uses of gas. This mechanism of desuperheating the refrigerant represents the vast majority of desuperheating applications. In water spray desuperheater, superheated refrigerant is passed from a section of pipe fitted with one or more spray nozzles. These nozzles inject a small amount fine spray of cooling water onto the superheated refrigerant, which causes the water to be converted into gas, hence reducing the quantity of superheat.
