A recent study carried out by Wisdomjobs.com with employees of public and private sector companies in Hyderabad unfolded the fact that the entrepreneurial spirit runs high among the salaried class in the city.

Here are the findings of the survey:
It is found that nearly 68 percent of the people surveyed expressed a wish to give entrepreneurship a shot. According to the survey, 20 percent people said that they had tried to run their own business in the past but failed for various reasons while only 10 percent indicated that they utterly have no interest in being entrepreneurs.

However, while looking into the respondents’ opinion about the ease of starting a business in the city, nearly 60 percent felt that it was a complicated process. The reason behind it is quite simple to understand as starting up a business is not an easy deal because it brings various significant challenges with itself. On the flip side, 15% of them felt that starting a business has become much easier now in the light and support of the Government as they focus on start-ups through initiatives such as T-Hub.

When asked about the same, one of the senior marketing managers of Wisdomejobs.com stated, “These stats indicate that people are now willing to have their own set-ups. Well, it is a good sign as it will increase the job opportunities for the youngsters and the people who are looking for a job change. Now, Government is also guiding these people by helping them out in setting up their businesses, as it will be a big plus to the Make in India initiative.”

Among the reasons for starting up a business, 67 percent mentioned higher income levels, 52% said that they would like to direct their business by being their own boss, 49 percent felt that it would lead to personal fulfilment, and 38 percent said it will help them to have a better work-life balance.

While focusing on the types of the business sector wise, the survey highlighted that 69 percent people favoured the IT/ITES, 34 percent preferred Engineering, and 21 percent opted for the pharma and 12 percent for Education.
