The 13th edition of Indian Premier League has postponed until April 15 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This has become a blessing in disguise for Indian speedster Deepak Chahar as the time has given him to recover fully from his lower-back injury. Chahar, who plays for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, is now waiting to make his return to the circuit.

He sustained a stress fracture in his lower back during the ODI series against the West Indies in December last year, which ruled him out of action until the end of March and he also admitted that had the IPL played on time, he would have missed a few games as it was scheduled to begin from March 29.

"When things are not in your control, there is little you can do. So, I focus on what I can do during that time. I am trying to learn new things, focus on my fitness - as you know I was injured and getting back. This gives me more time to recover," he was quoted as saying on CSK's official website. "Had the IPL season started on time, I would have missed the first few matches,"

However, there is no clarity whether this league will take place or not this year because of the current situation. The deadly virus has so far claimed nearly 200 Indian lives apart from affecting more than 80,000 global deaths which have forced many countries, including India, to go under lockdown to fight against this global pandemic.

Chahar further said that it is a tough time for everyone but as of now everyone needs to stay safe and positive as the country is in a 21-day lockdown. "Be safe, learn something new now that you have time. Stay positive, stay in the time," added Chahar, who played three ODIs and 10 T20 internationals for India.
