This is because physical pain is inherent to exercise, so the individual who remains committed to a routine is displaying a form of perseverance. Furthermore, people living in today's modern economy have to find time to exercise before or after work, so the extra energy and motivation that must be summoned today makes an exercise routine even more impressive.

Another quality gained by an individual who commits to an exercise routine, says Thomas McFarland DDS, is a greater sense of awareness. This is mostly because people who commit to an exercise routine do so because they find inspiration in the end result of their actions. It is a wise man or woman who avoids shallow pleasures for deeper pleasures and who endures shallow pains to avoid deeper pains. A person who works out on a consistent basis is enduring short-term pain so that they can experience long-term joy and avoid long-term pain. This is the manifestation of awareness, believes Thomas McFarland DDS.

Finally, Tim McFarland DDS believes that maintaining an exercise routine is worthwhile because it produces physical health within an individual. It is known today that a healthy mind equates to a healthy body and an unhealthy mind equates to an unhealthy body. The vice versa holds true as well.
