College is not always easy nor is it cheap. Many students like Cami Libdan find themselves working while going to school and the responsibilities can make or break a student.

Cami Libdan is optimistic about her future. As a student, Cami Libdan has earned high marks since high school. She graduated with honors from Francis Scott Key High School and from Carroll Community College before she was accepted to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Cami Libdan is the face of many college students today because like hundreds of thousands of other students, Cami Libdan works while attending university.

Graduating from college can mean many things. The successful completion of college demonstrates an ability to set goals and work towards a greater end. Cami Libdan knew university was important for her future but she was also realistic in the fiscal responsibilities she would face. So it was with optimism that Cami Libdan applied for work in retail.

As a student, Cami Libdan managed two jobs. For over a year she worked for a local pharmacy store. The experience built up her customer service skills that she would build upon with her second job. After leaving the pharmacy, Cami Libdan was hired by the national home décor retail chain Pier Imports.

The retail store had many demands and expectations for Cami Libdan. Like other sales persons, Cami Libdan was expected to represent the best of the company and use her personal and developed customer service skills to boost sales. In a hard economy, this was increasingly difficult for Cami Libdan to do and her success proved her value as an employee.

Working as a student can be difficult at times. Cami Libdan had to carefully balance her time between work, class, and study time. When a full day of work is considered eight hours, Cami Libdan and other working students easily put in 12 or more hours a day between work, class, and study. With a great deal of energy and a drive to prove her worth to her employer, Cami Libdan studied customers and developed an acute sense of their likes and dislikes within a few short minutes. Cami Libdan’s sales skills were rewarded when she received Pier Imports’ Sales Award. Honored and grateful for the award, Cami Libdan is proud of her ability to work as a busy student.
