Old Boatyard in Arbroath recently allowed a select group of critics and customers the opportunity to taste test their new menu for December 2013.

Old Boatyard in Arbroath is a first class restaurant specializing in enjoyable dining experiences. Part of the enjoyable dining experience at Old Boatyard in Arbroath includes gorgeous seaside views, an inviting atmosphere, and delicious menu items. The restaurant’s chefs spend days and even weeks in preparation for future menus, something they take great pride in. Old Boatyard in Arbroath likes to switch up some of its menu items a few times each year, and they have found the ever evolving menu to be a favorite of regular customers.

This December, Old Boatyard in Arbroath will be introducing its newest menu, a picture of which can be found on the restaurant’s webpage under the ‘December Menu’ tab. While the menu item descriptions have been made available to the public, the actual dishes have yet to be tasted by the public. Until recently, they had only been tasted by the chefs and staff at Old Boatyard in Arbroath, but that has recently changed.

The owner of Old Boatyard in Arbroath decided to invite a select group of critics and longtime customers to a tasting event. “The idea behind it was to create excitement. We knew that positive word of mouth would quickly circulate once a few people tried it,” said the owner of Old Boatyard in Arbroath. “It was also a chance for us to refine and tweak a few of the menu items to perfection. You have to be sensitive to what your customers like, so we thought it would be a good idea to get some firsthand input.”

Guests were seated at tables of four on the outside patio overlooking the water. Restaurant staff then welcomed them and explained how the night would proceed. Small samplings of each dish were brought to the tables and enjoyed. Staff then took a few minutes to ask for reviews and opinions on the foods they had tasted.

Some of each of the starters, main courses, and desserts were sampled by the guests. One of the most popular main courses was the Panfried Fillet of Sea Trout with Red Pepper Coulis and Smokie Dauphinoise. “People really enjoyed the Panfried Fillet. The way we cook the sea trout, and the ingredients we throw in with it, really give it a unique flavor. We were very happy with the response to that entrée,” said the owner of Old Boatyard in Arbroath.

Another popular item was Goat Cheese Quiche with Red Onion Marmalade and assorted Vegetables. “I heard a lot of positive feedback on the quiche,” said Old Boatyard in Arbroath’s owner. “I think that may be my personal favorite.”

The night was seen as a success for Old Boatyard in Arbroath for a couple of different reasons. First, they were able to cultivate some community excitement for the new menu. The guests were encouraged to share their experiences with friends and family, and many have already done so. Secondly, Old Boatyard in Arbroath was able to fine-tune their items before their official release later this year. Old Boatyard in Arbroath is looking forward to finishing 2013 off right, and hoping the menu will spring them towards success in 2014.
