John Groh, a compassionate professional, is being recognized for his support of the Nebraska Chapter of Casting for Recovery.

For the past three years, John Groh has been contributing many of his own resources to the Nebraska Chapter of Casting for Recovery. His support has been instrumental for this organization, which, according to John Groh is a wonderful breast cancer survivor program that works with survivors of cancer and uses fly fishing as an integral part of the recovery process.

The support that John Groh provided for Casting for Recovery has been not only critical but also multifaceted. This is because John Groh has actually provided access for the organization to make use of Nebraska’s Snake Falls Sportsmen’s Club’s private trout fishery on the Snake River, which is located just outside of Valentine, Nebraska.

Additionally, John Groh provided assistance on the side of coordination for an annual Casting for Recovery retreat. John Groh managed fourteen Snake Falls Sportsmen’s Club guides and helpers for the river trip, as well as all of the volunteers from the Club who might be needed to assist with supporting, teaching, and guiding for the Casting for Recovery guests.

The guests themselves, according to John Groh, were hosted for a day at the aforementioned private trout fishery. With the help of John Groh, each Casting for Recovery participant caught and released her very own wild native Nebraska rainbow or brown trout.

About the event, John Groh said, “I was thrilled to work with such a wonderful organization. Bringing people together in community-service is truly the reason that I do what I do.”

Leaders of the Casting for Recovery retreat addressed their gratitude as well, naming John Groh as a heartfelt contributor to Casting for Recovery. Tina Broekmeier of Casting for Recovery refers to this organization as a “small but successful program to help a group of women enjoy a look at Nebraska that few have experienced.” Without the help of John Groh, says Tina Broekmeier, the operation would never have gone as smoothly as it did.

The event came to a conclusion on September 29, 2013 after a three-day run. According to John Groh, this was the third year that Nebraska Casting for Recovery has hosted 14 women for the retreat, and he hopes to continue with the retreat again in future years.
