On April 24-26, 2014, over 200 of the women attorneys working for the Perkins Coie law firm convened for a Carlsbad, California retreat; an event designed to provide inspiration, empowerment and information to the firm’s women attorneys regarding advancement both within their practices and their careers at the firm. The 2014 All Women Lawyer’s Retreat, attended by diversity proponent and initiatives leader Jeanne Cullen of Perkins Coie, brought together women attorneys from all ranks to provide a unique opportunity for improving their business and professional skills, participate in discussions and engage with others on the unique issues and challenges facing women within their practices.
Jeanne Cullen of Perkins Coie is proud to have been a part of this unique opportunity, and to participate with her colleagues in sessions discussing the issues and challenges that impact the firm’s women attorneys on a daily basis. The event, which experienced a turnout of over 70 percent of Perkins Coie’s women attorneys, afforded participants the chance to engage in workshops on skill development, as well as programs centered on topics that are of particular interest to the firm’s women attorneys, such as building internal social capital, cross-selling, the “art of asking” and more. The retreat had featured panel discussions and an invaluable opportunity for participants to take advantage of colleague networking and collaboration with the firm’s leaders.
Jeanne Cullen of Perkins Coie, firm partner, Women’s Forum Co-Chair and member of the firm’s Strategic Diversity Committee, enjoyed the opportunity to participate in what some deem to be a rare offering amongst today’s law firms. As one of Perkins Coie’s strong advocates for diversity, as well as the empowerment, encouragement and promotion of women within the firm, Jeanne Cullen is recognized for her commitment to a more diverse work environment, and for serving as a leader and supporter as it pertains to the issues experienced by women attorneys serving both in the firm and throughout the legal profession.
Jeanne Cullen of Perkins Coie is proud of the retreat’s success, as well as to have had the opportunity to participate in a truly unique and productive event.
