Local businesswoman Jamie O'Bryan is the new volunteer supervisor at the parish’s religious summer camp.

Jamie O'Bryan is no stranger to volunteer work; she has been volunteering almost her whole adult life in various capacities, from sports coaching to Girl Scouts of America to non profit business organizations. But Jamie O'Bryan’s favorite way to give her time is through religious service to her church. Recently, Jamie O'Bryan decided to volunteer to lead the parish’s religious summer camp this year as the supervisor, a position she looks forward to serving in.

The religious summer camp has been a yearly fixture in the parish, but the previous supervisor was unable to continue leading the camp this summer. A small number of candidates stepped forward to volunteer, and Jamie O'Bryan ended up being placed in the supervisor position. This is good news for the parish, which has come to rely on the religious summer camp to help educate their youth during the summer months and provide a new experience for many students, getting them out of the house and into the outdoors.

Jamie O'Bryan has led summer camps at her previous parishes, which is a main reason why she was chosen to lead this summer camp, according to parish leaders. In addition, Jamie O'Bryan has a reputation in the parish as a kindhearted woman who has a good rapport with children and is especially gifted at earning their respect and attention. Jamie O'Bryan is not a disciplinarian, yet kids seem to instinctively listen to her and follow directions when she gives them. These traits make Jamie O'Bryan nearly the ideal candidate for the job.

And Jamie O'Bryan couldn’t be happier about it, either. “I’m thrilled to be able to supervise this religious summer camp,” she says. “It means a lot to me to be able to reach out to the kids in a real, meaningful way. It means a lot to be able to teach them about the Scripture, about the Church, and about our faith, in a setting where there are no parents, there are no teachers, and it’s relaxed. No one is looking over their shoulder. I look forward to having a couple real breakthroughs this summer.”

Jamie O'Bryan says she believes this summer’s summer camp will be the best yet.
