They launched the glossy magazine in South Africa in 2008, as a publication that celebrates the aspirations, inspirations, and passions of its readers. Former Miss South Africa Claudia Henkel served as the magazine's first Chief Executive Officer. Before she was named Miss South Africa in 2005, she was a full time law student and part time model. Once her reign as Miss South Africa came to an end she decided to enter the corporate world.

The Wealth Report was a hit right from the start, and Gate Investment Group's Richard Nel credits its success to human nature: "That even in a time when the markets look tumultuous and talk of recession rages around the globe, people continue to covet exotic cars, long for the tranquility of luxurious destinations, use executive transport, and exalted in the trappings of power and the ultimate experiences."

He relieves some of the dullness with an interest in Ferraris; he is a member of SEFAC, an organization of Ferrari enthusiasts in South Africa. He is also an enthusiastic polo player, and his success has allowed him to pursue the sport.
