Former Judge Paul Hawkes Celebrates More Than 25 Years in Law

Former Judge Paul Hawkes is celebrating more than 25 years serving in Florida law and government.

 
Former Judge Paul Hawkes is proud to say that he has been a member of the Florida Bar for more than 25 years. During that time, he has served as Judge Paul Hawkes, Representative Paul Hawkes and has been able to accomplish and serve in a great many other meaningful positions in his career as a lawyer. He has been able to serve under a number of impressive men during this time. Former Judge Paul Hawkes always is grateful for the opportunities he has had to serve and contribute because of his membership in the Florida Bar.

Certainly serving as Judge Paul Hawkes was an incredible honor, especially on the First District Court of Appeal, but, he said, “I am incredibly grateful to have had such a long and illustrious career in Florida government. When I first became a member of the bar, I had no idea what I would be able to accomplish. I feel incredibly honored to have served with so many amazing men and women, and I am looking forward to spending more time advancing in my career.”

Judge Paul Hawkes began his journey when he started attending the University of South Florida. There, if he ever hoped to become a member of the Florida bar, or serve as Judge Paul Hawkes, he knew he would have to work hard to ensure that he was successful in his studies. Even at a young age, he knew the importance of his father’s advice to get a good education. He understood that his education would serve as his foundation to a meaningful and successful career in government.

Judge Paul Hawkes eventually went on to graduate “cum laude” at the University of South Florida. There, he would leave the school with a bachelor’s degree in Political science. Judge Paul Hawkes was accepted to attend Florida State University. There, he studied at the College of Law. In 1985, Judge Paul Hawkes left the school with his Juris Doctorate, which is still something he considers one of his greatest accomplishments. He graduated with honors and was a member of law review serving as Research Editor.

Since his time at school, besides his nine years as Judge Paul Hawkes, he has served in important positions in all three branches of Florida’s government. Before Governor Bush appointed him Judge Paul Hawkes, he served in the Governor’s Office of Policy and Budget. Before he became Judge Paul Hawkes, he also worked as Special Counsel to the first Republican Speaker in 122 years, Representative Daniel Webster.
