Equuestria Development Raises Standards for Horse Care

Equuestria Development is recognized for its high standard of care for its performing horses.

Equuestria Development had a little more on its plate than the average traveling production company: many of its performers were horses. Human performers can take care of themselves for the most part (or at least ask for what they need), but horses are delicate animals that need constant care. Equuestria Development was recognized for its dedication to keeping its horses healthy and happy by letting them socialize and eat well.

Equuestria Development trained its employees, acrobats, and performers on proper horse care. Nobody was allowed to work with the animal performers who did not fully understand their needs and how they communicated.

Equuestria Development hosted a traveling production that required adequate sheltering for its animals. The company made a strong priority that all horses be provided for in different climates. The trailers for transporting the horses were up to industry standards. The horses were sheltered at night, given proper exercise during the day, and protected from all harsh elements.

Equuestria Development also made sure the horses were properly fed and watered, especially since performing horses expend a lot of energy. Aside from the physical exertion of the feats the horses had to perform, horses, just like people, get performance anxiety. Anxiety eats away at energy and can also leave horses dehydrated because it causes heavy breathing. Horses should be allowed to eat as often as they choose to, and should always have access to fresh, clean water. Equuestria Development made sure this was the case.

Horses also need to be groomed to be happy and healthy. Equuestria Development instructed its employees in proper grooming technique. To groom a horse, one must begin by securing the horse. Then, a hoof pick is used to clean their hooves. Equuestria Development instructed its workers to always stand to the side when grooming a horse, so that if the horse gets nervous it can’t kick anyone. A kick from a horse can cause a serious injury, and even death. A curry comb is then used, followed by progressively softer brushes and a wide-toothed comb to get the tangles out of the mane and tail. Equuestria Development’s performing horses shone with the excellent grooming care they received.
