Equuestria Development was very pleased to announce its partnership with San Diego nonprofit animal welfare, the well-known and highly-respected large animal care center that is without equal in all of San Diego. Equuestria Development was a San Diego production company that in November of 2012 premiered Valitar, a traveling performance featuring 40 top breed horses and 25 world-renowned human performers. “The San Diego-based animal care organization incredibly important work for the San Diego community,” said Mark Remley, president of Equuestria Development. As a San Diego businessman, Remley stated his belief in supporting his local community. “We are thrilled to be able to help the organization.

The best in large animal care organizations was founded over 40 years ago and is located in Santa Fe. The San Diego based large animal organization is more than a typical animal shelter, it has a diverse set of programs designed to be mutually beneficial to animals and humans. They place pets in homes, but also design therapeutic programs that serve animals and people in need. They do not euthanize any of its animals.

The organization has created programs that have been of great benefit to the local community. One program in particular began in 1984, when a volunteer with Meals on Wheels realized that one of her clients was sharing her delivered food with her cat. Realizing this was a wider problem that put both animals and people at risk, the woman brought her concern to the large animal organization, and the program was created. Initially serving just 10 clients, The helpful program now feeds over 350 pets per week, working with a dedicated team of 40 volunteers.

Another large animal organizational initiative is a therapeutic riding program. The program is designed for both children and adults who have special needs as a result of Down’s syndrome, autism, stroke recovery, learning disabilities, cerebral palsy, and other health problems. Participants in this therapeutic riding program show increased cognitive ability in memory and concentration, increased muscle control and balance, and overall better self esteem and satisfaction in life.

This therapeutic riding program is one of the initiatives Equuestria Development’s donations is supporting. In addition, Equuestria Development’s money is also going to the organization’s equine and large animal hospital.

The partnership between Equuestria Development and the San Diego-based organization was established when Valitar premiered. Equuestria Development promised that a portion of each ticket sale would go to the renowned large animal care organization. Valitar general admission tickets cost $39 for children and $65 for adults, with a VIP option available.

Valitar was a unique performance featuring original choreography, music, acrobatics, costumes, and sets. It was a gravity-defying spectacle that pushed the limits of what seemed possible in horseback performance. It was directed by Sylvia Zerbini, a skilled performer with years of performance and directing experience. The show opened at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and took place under a 45,000 square foot tent.

Representatives from the large animal care organization stated their happiness at the partnership with Equuestria Development. Equuestria Development’s love and respect for horses was the driving force that led to their partnership with the organization. The charitable contributions provided through ticket sales made it possible for horses to be taken care of physically and mentally.
