J. Dale Guerrieri explains what the different types of tires are and helps consumers choose which is best for them.

Dale Guerrieri understands that there is a huge difference between tires. Many consumers however get misled very easily by the many TV programs and end up having the incorrect type of tire for their vehicle. A little explanation of the various types of tires hopefully, says J. Dale Guerrieri, will be helpful.

The most standard car tire is the all season car tire. These tires are built for all weather conditions. They offer smart compromises that are made to allow for better performance year round. Most vehicles, says J. Dale Guerrieri, come with these tires standard. Because of the extremely high quantities of these produced they are also normally a bit better price. If you own a car and do not want to do any research, any you live somewhere where you get all four seasons (Example: not Nevada or Florida), these are likely going to be a very good year round tire for you.

Dale Guerrieri knows that another of the main types of tires is the All Terrain tire. This tire is the standard tire for most trucks and aggressive SUVS. Aggressive meaning a vehicle built with intended purpose of going off road such as the Jeep brand or the Land Rover brand. These tires are built for performance anywhere. They are not as good on roads as highway tires or as all season tires. They are also not as good off roading as “mudder” tires and similar tires are. However they are better then “mudders” on the roads and they are better then all season tires when not on the road.

For cars, there are also tires that are specifically designed for three main types of road conditions, says Dale Guerrieri, which are Highway clear sky driving, Driving in the rain very often, and driving during the winter often. Each of these 3 types of tires have been designed specifically to work best on the type of weather suggested and they are great options if you live somewhere that these are the prevalent conditions however they often do not mix well.

Dale Guerrieri advises you to not drive highway tires during the winter or when the roads are very slick. Don’t drive rain tires during the winter. J. Dale Guerrieri also knows that you shouldn’t drive winter tires any time other than winter time. There are reasons for each to be only used properly and your tire dealer can explain them.
